Wodaabe Scarf

A nomadic Fulani people who herd Zebu cattle across the Sahel, the Wodaabe ("those who live by the taboo") hold steadfast to their traditions, including the embroidery they are famous for. Themes are drawn from everyday life reflected the form of symbols and patterns in many colors. Women create special dancing tunics that men wear for their many festival dances. Beauty is very important to the Wodaabe, and this is reflected in the gorgeous items they create.
